Members of staff at Thomas’s work extremely hard as members of inspirational, supportive and enthusiastic teams. And be it a warm unicorn coat for playground duty, morning coffee or fresh fruit at break times, Thomas’s knows that small, thoughtful touches make a difference and teachers and members of the support teams feel so well cared for. 

Members of staff across Thomas's collaborate frequently with one another, exchange ideas for best practice, develop knowledge and skills and devise new ways of teaching. More experienced teachers mentor the newer members of their teams and everyone learns from each other.

Thomas’s London Day Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. All members of staff have a responsibility and duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils. They must be aware of the systems within the school which support safeguarding and must act in accordance with the school’s Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct at all times. Members of staff receive appropriate child protection training, which is regularly updated.

All posts are subject to safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check and online searches. Full details of the checks which will be undertaken as part of our recruitment process are detailed in our Safer Recruitment Policy.

Professional Development

At the heart of staff support is continuing professional development. Whether that is our ongoing in-house training relating to school development priorities, supporting a teacher to undertake a Master’s degree or another postgraduate qualification, offering further training to support staff, encouraging the establishment of a new idea in school or providing mentoring and support for newly qualified teachers; the journey towards excellence is paramount. Thomas’s want their staff to be as successful and fulfilled as they possibly can be. We offer various CPD routes through our partnership with the National School of Education and Teaching and staff have also received their MAs though the University of Roehampton and the University of Buckingham. We offer a Graduate Recruitment Scheme through T3 - Thomas's Teacher Training and teaching assistants can pursue the QTS route into teaching if they wish.
